P is for Poo...

Yes, you read correctly. And those were my thoughts exactly when Boo shouted from the other room, "Mom, come quick. I made a new letter with my poo. It's the letter C." And sure enough a perfectly formed C sat in the bottom of her little potty. It was only a tad mortifying that she decided to proclaim her letter skills very loudly in front of our uber-cool college aged babysitter. I've always wanted to be known as the mom of the kid that could form letters with her poo. :)

Advent Calendars and Such...

In reviewing some photos recently I came across a few that tell a much bigger story than this one of Bella clutching her empty Advent Calendar. So in honor of our dear friend Mummy M's birthday, I thought I'd take a quick look back at one of our girls' favorite Christmas traditions.

It all started back in December of 2005 when Mummy M sent Boo her very first Advent Calendar. This was no ordinary advent calendar though, it contains the most delicious white chocolate and was mailed to us from England.

Boo in December 2007

The tradition continued through the years with one even mysteriously being sent to the US via Australia, complete with custom stickers and all. And while Boo was quick to devour this delicious treat, I wasn't ever sure if she was really paying attention till this year. We were out shopping in November when she stopped to ponder "if Mummy M would remember to send her an Advent Calendar this year."

And so the tradition continued, but unlike her older sister, Bella wouldn't settle with simply being told that this thin little box contained something very good. In fact she wasn't particularly thrilled that we sat her down to look at a cardboard box. Below is a pic of their responses when we sat them down to receive their treat and then of Bella tossing hers to the floor.

All that changed however when she finally got a little taste.
From then on, she would walk around saying "ma, ma, ma, ma....." which translates to "more, more, more" and was accompanied by furious sign language symbols for the word "more."

And the next time the calendar came out, there wasn't any tears (except for when we had to put it away). :)

So thank you Mummy M for making precious memories for our girls. We all love you bunches and wish you many blessings for the coming year. Happy Birthday!

Same Manufacturer

A few days ago Boo was playing with two separate sets of toys and I was trying to point out the similarities since they were made by the same company, Melissa and Doug. "See how this horse looks like this horse and this cow, etc." To which Boo quickly responded, "just like Bella and I were made by the same people. She has blonde hair and I have blonde hair and she has light skin and I have light skin." Now if only they came with a warranty and instruction manual.

Boo's Acting Debut

After being snowed out for several weeks, Boo finally got to have her big acting debut in our church's Christmas play this past Sunday. Here's a shot of her reciting her line, "The prophets fortell of a wonderful Saviour, Glory to God" which she wanted to add, "in the Highest, Alleluia." She also sang Away in the Manger and O Come All Ye Faithful with the other children.

It's worth noting that Away in the Manger contains, "the cattle of glory" instead of the "the cattle are lowing." And O Come All Ye Faithful contains, sing in "ex-PAUL-tation," not "exhaltation" and "sing all ye sinners (not citizens) of heaven above." It was just to cute to correct and she actually got loads of compliments because she sang so nice and loud.

Greatest Sister in the World

That's what Boo declared herself after I thanked her for VOLUNTARILY sharing her cookie with her little sister. To be honest, this kid frequently amazes me and humbles me. I'm quick to think the worst of people and more than once I've been ashamed to have misjudged her actions or motives. Anyways, here's a few pics of them enjoying their treat together.

Bella was quite happy with her gift, probably thought it was to make up for the fact that her sister knocked her down as she was trying to crawl into bed this afternoon.
