Advent Calendars and Such...

In reviewing some photos recently I came across a few that tell a much bigger story than this one of Bella clutching her empty Advent Calendar. So in honor of our dear friend Mummy M's birthday, I thought I'd take a quick look back at one of our girls' favorite Christmas traditions.

It all started back in December of 2005 when Mummy M sent Boo her very first Advent Calendar. This was no ordinary advent calendar though, it contains the most delicious white chocolate and was mailed to us from England.

The tradition continued through the years with one even mysteriously being sent to the US via Australia, complete with custom stickers and all. And while Boo was quick to devour this delicious treat, I wasn't ever sure if she was really paying attention till this year. We were out shopping in November when she stopped to ponder "if Mummy M would remember to send her an Advent Calendar this year."

And so the tradition continued, but unlike her older sister, Bella wouldn't settle with simply being told that this thin little box contained something very good. In fact she wasn't particularly thrilled that we sat her down to look at a cardboard box. Below is a pic of their responses when we sat them down to receive their treat and then of Bella tossing hers to the floor.

All that changed however when she finally got a little taste.
From then on, she would walk around saying "ma, ma, ma, ma....." which translates to "more, more, more" and was accompanied by furious sign language symbols for the word "more."

And the next time the calendar came out, there wasn't any tears (except for when we had to put it away). :)

So thank you Mummy M for making precious memories for our girls. We all love you bunches and wish you many blessings for the coming year. Happy Birthday!

Thank you so much Christy - my visits to the USA are made all the more special when I get to see you and your wonderful family - thank you for taking this mad english woman under your wing and making her feel so welcome in a country that I am coming to love as my second home. My friendship with all of you is something I treasure very much. Hope to see you soon.
Lots of love Mummy M xxxx
